Hot Chocolate on the Stove

  • 4 cups milk
  •  ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Handful of small marshmallows

Begin by turning on your broiler. In a medium saucepan on medium heat, mix your cocoa powder, sugar and salt all together. Add water and continue to sir the mixture until the chocolate liquid comes to a boil. Allow the mixture to boil for one minute. Stir in your milk and heat it until the milk reaches the temperature of your preference, but keep in mind you should not bring it to a boil.

Remove the chocolate from the heat, and stir in your vanilla extract. Pour into oven safe mugs, and top with a handful of marshmallows so that no liquid can be seen. Stick the mug on a solid surface in the oven, and allow the mallows to broil until golden brown. Allow the mallows to cool before serving!
